Base Squared has organically grown from Director, Tom, to a six-strong, full-service horticulture, landscaping and maintenance team.
Our approach is horticulture led and we thrive on the challenge of delivering gardens that strike a balance between being exceptional spaces and positive for the environment around them.
Because we’re a tight-knit team we bring agility and experience to every project and have a network of trusted partners ready to deliver specialist skills and trades. So whatever your garden demands, you can be confident the best in the business will be working on it.
Meet Tom
Much like our gardens, our Director Tom Hearn has a pretty unique blend of creativity, practicality, and commitment to biodiversity. His love of gardening began working as a landscaper when he was 16, he honed his creativity studying Fine Art and Sculpture at the Manchester Metropolitan University, and picked up some Royal Horticultural Society qualifications at Reeseheath College along the way.
From maintaining 20-acre estates to creating award-winning displays at Chelsea, Tom’s experience means he has the skills and vision to deliver across size, scale, and style. And he sees every project as an opportunity to maximise the potential for biodiversity and wildlife in every space.

Tom brings creativity, horticultural expertise, and a passion for biodiversity to every project. From large estates to award-winning Chelsea displays, he blends artistic vision with practical know-how.
Darren Tucker
Darren keeps everything running seamlessly behind the scenes. From purchasing, pricing, finance, and stock-taking – he keeps every project firmly on track.
Tom Hewitt
Tom brings a wealth of experience and skills to every project. He’s been building and cultivating incredible spaces for many years.
Josh
Josh joined the team as an apprentice and 5 years later has developed into a highly skilled landscaper and key member of the team.
Nathan
Another Base Squared success story, Nathan has developed through the ranks from apprentice to highly skilled landscaper.
Rory
Across soft and hard landscape projects Rory plays a vital part in delivering and maintaining exceptional spaces.
