The foundation of any successful garden is the soil and it took importing 500 tonnes of quality soil and removing a similar amount of clay to give this space the substructure to thrive.

Modern terrace with water feature and purple planting.

This was a project that was a true collaboration with designer, Rob Hughes, as the site delivered multiple unexpected challenges as the build progressed.

A hidden natural spring and the discovery that the neighbouring cricket pitch was draining into the back of the garden required the installation of a submersible pump, irrigation system, and a re-working of the planting plans to replace the trees in the scheme with Hornbeams that tolerate higher water levels.

Flowing grasses and soft planting around modern garden terrace.

Looking after all the hard landscaping we installed a wraparound calming water feature, commissioned a stunning single cast floating concrete bridge with soft lighting, built a crescent moondeck immersed in the planting, and clad a redbrick outbuilding with charred larch to blend in with the landscape.

Vibrant summer flowers framing a reflective garden pond.

The garden is now a beautiful ‘inside/outside’ space that gives the owners areas to enjoy at every time of day and in every season.
